Vanni Covol, is the CEO and owner of the company Mold that developed this concept. He is also the owner of the patent pending River Cleaning. The system for rivers, River Cleaning
This concept consists of several floating elements that look like buoys. They are arranged diagonally in the waterway and can block plastic waste and direct it to shore. thanks to their rotating underwater system. Floating buoys are scalable, it is possible to adapt to the size of the river, to the flow or to the flow of the river with equipment. In addition, they are designed to allow themselves to be carried by the passing of a boat … So, when a boat “crashes” into a buoy, it carries, passes, and the buoy repositions itself afterwards.
How does this work?
The buoys are 100% autonomous and turn thanks to the current. The bottom of the buoy forms a kind of helix that, as it turns, directing garbage ashore where it can be picked up. No other energy but the force of the current is needed for River Cleaning to work, so it does not exist no impact on the environment or the ecosystem: the fish can continue on their way, without any problems!
“Current solutions use boats with drainage systems, net systems or barriers that temporarily block the way to the river. Each installation requires specific resources and analysis, leading to high costs; it is also very difficult to make permanent installations, precisely because of the inconveniences involved. The fuel system
River Cleanup doesn’t stop at fighting plastic waste! Another form of “buoy” was developed: this new innovative system could soon make it possible to proceed in the same way as with plastics, but of the oils and fuel thrown into the rivers. A parallel Plug-in will be included in the original system with several possibilities. River Oil, that’s its name, could be an additional module consisting of absorbent sponges, or more sophisticated, a suction and filtration system installed in the center of the buoy.
