Intergenerational micro-nursery: an innovative way to reconnect generations

Wednesday 1eh June 2022, a Tom & Josette intergenerational crèche will open in the Recouvrance district, in Brest, in a 120 m² building adjacent to the Espace & Vie senior services residence. This proximity will allow residents and children to regularly spend time together, in small groups, in one or the other structure. After Rennes, Albi and Montussan, Tom & Josette, the first intergenerational micro-nursery network will open in its fourth structure, in conjunction with the Espace & Vie Brest Recouvrance senior residence.

Twelve children, from 2.5 months to 3 years old, supervised by early childhood professionals, will be admitted to safe areas. Inspired by Montessori, the structure aims to make children as independent as possible. The opening of these micro-nurseries responds to a dual mission: grow old better and grow better. In fact, several times a week, children and residents can get together to experience simple and ritualized activities together: reading stories, gardening, creative activities, sharing snacks … ” We are convinced that re -creating the intergenerational bond is essential to prevent any separation and to help young ones grow up in a healthy, smart and playful way. Thanks to our crèches, we want to build links between all generations, to offer an enjoyable educational environment for the little ones! », Pauline Faivre and Astrid Parmentier, founders of Tom & Josette.

Espace & Vie residences: promote living together
