RedHat Announces 2022 Innovation Awards Winners | Informatic direction

RedHat announced the winner of the 2022 Innovator of the Year award this week as part of the Red Hat Summit.

For the 16th year, the RedHat Innovation Awards recognize the technological achievements of RedHat customers around the world who have demonstrated creativity in solving problems to have a positive impact on business and society.

Innovator of the Year

This year, Telefónica Colombia received the Innovator of the Year award. Telefónica Colombia has replaced its current platform with RedHat technology to enhance its flagship mobile application, Mi Movistar, for its 21 million users. The ability to develop and deliver new functionality became especially important as COVID-19 increased the need for fully digital service management. Telefónica Colombia used RedHat OpenShift, RedHat Fuse and RedHat 3scale API Management on its new platform.

Red Hat also celebrated four other Innovation Awards winners for this year:

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is changing the way it manages its banking infrastructure to enable it to function more efficiently, adapt to changing needs and provide a strategic platform for the future.

CIBC used RedHat OpenShift to manage, measure and build multiple applications on its hybrid cloud infrastructure. A consistent container platform reduced provisioning time by 95% and allowed CIBC to deliver new features and services in a fraction of the time.

Center of Computing and Information Systems (Mamram)

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Center of Computing and Information Systems unit, also known as Mamram, has partnered with RedHat to modernize side services to support military operations across the country.

Using a combination of RedHat open-source technologies such as the RedHat OpenShift Container Platform, RedHat Advanced Cluster Management, and RedHat Ansible Automation Platform, Mamram has been able to accelerate infrastructure services using cloud computing, modernizing applications, while improving security and compliance.

UK Department for Work and Pensions

The UK Department for Work and Pensions has used RedHat technology, specifically RedHat Enterprise Linux and RedHat Ansible Automation Platform, to provide easy access to critical services to over 20 million citizens. By digitizing and automating processes, they have been able to efficiently respond to the unprecedented number of claims made by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Washington Health Benefit Exchange

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange, along with RedHat partner Deloitte, has used container and integration solutions to enhance the state’s online insurance marketplace, Washington Healthplanfinder.

This project has helped many families get the health coverage they need during a pandemic. The Washington Health Benefit Exchange used open source technologies, including the RedHat OpenShift Container Platform and RedHat 3scale API Management Platform, to migrate key systems.

This has enabled the state agency to streamline business operations, reduce costs, and help Washington State citizens identify, locate, and select the best health and dental providers to meet their specific needs.

RedHat also featured four other organizations with honorable mentions:

  • Andreani Logistics Group
  • The Vehicle Driver and Computer Services Division of the Department of Transport Ireland
