The eighth edition of the World Summit of Governments began on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The Nigerian delegation to this important meeting was led by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou.
In this edition that will end this Wednesday, March 30, 2022, participants specifically focused on strengthening cooperation and integration between governments, the public and private sectors, countries and communities. . Eight themes including those related to health, education, employment and energy will be developed by the leaders and political experts present at this meeting. Thus, Niger has actively participated in several forums planned within the framework of this global conference.
Prior to the opening of its 8th edition of the global summit of governments, Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou proceeded, on the afternoon of Monday, March 28, with the launch of the forum titled “Niger business forum” of Dubai expo 2020. At this On this occasion, the Head of Government delivered a speech in which he first congratulated the Emirati authorities and the organizers for the great success of the Dubai 2020 World Expo despite a context marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. He then stressed that the Niger business forum will give companies and economic agents from around the world the opportunity to update themselves and follow the recent developments in the economic and social evolution of Niger, to conduct exchanges and build long -term economic partnerships.
He also pointed out that the geographical position of Niger, a hinged country between the Maghreb and Africa south of the Sahara, makes it a country of choice for any investor with a continental objective. This geographical advantage will continue, being strengthened by several integrative projects including the trans-Saharan road that connects Algeria with the countries on Africa’s Atlantic coast and crosses Niger from north to south giving it the advantage. of dual access to the ports of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou added that important reforms had been undertaken to improve the business climate which had enabled Niger to make significant progress on the scale of the World Bank’s business climate analysis under the business name. Since good political and economic governance is essential for economic and social development and the improvement of the living conditions of the citizens, the ambition of the Nigerian authorities, led by which His Majesty Mohamed Bazoum, President of the Republic, Niger is a stable and strong democratic state. In the field of economics, the ambition of the Nigerian authorities is to consolidate the dynamics of wealth creation observed in recent years by raising the average annual growth rate to 8% and by changing the structure of economy.
At the end of his speech, Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou said the Nigerian government and businessmen were eager to welcome international investors to seize the business opportunities offered by Niger. Several ministerial members of the delegation intervened to provide details on areas relevant to their ministerial departments.
Yesterday Tuesday, on the sideline of the work of the 8th edition of the world summit of governments, Prime Minister Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou visited the Nigerien pavilion installed within the framework of the Universal Exhibition Dubai 2020; which has already received more than 361,000 visitors since its installation, a real cause of satisfaction that was warmly received by the Prime Minister.
