ABU DHABI, March 25, 2022 (WAM)-Expo 2020 Dubai enters its final week expecting a record number of visits, due to the World Government Summit and spring break.
This week, Expo 2020 Dubai witnessed fruitful discussions and creative initiatives to advance international cooperation in preserving water resources and protecting their sustainability in line with population growth.
In this report titled “The Expo in a week”, Emirates News Agency (WAM) highlights the major events and occasions that took place in the 25th week of the great international event.
Water Week: Expo 2020 Dubai hosts Water Week, which brings together changemakers from the public and private sectors to explore ways to promote the protection of water resources and ensure their sustainability in Earth.
Four initiatives: On the sidelines of UAE Water Week at Expo 2020 Dubai, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei launched four national initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainability of national water resources, called “Digital Water Management System in Infrastructure Assets”, “Integrated Management of Dams and Water Facilities”, “Hydrogeological Map Project” and “Future water Hackathon”.
Water production: The Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, has announced the launch of a pilot program to install 15 water production machines in the country, noting that 700 additional machines will be installed .
In the main session held on the occasion of World Water Day, Ms. Almheiri that growing demographic practices and unsustainable water consumption are adding significant pressure on water resources.
Water Business Forum: Expo 2020 Dubai hosts the “Water Business Forum”, which examines the major challenges facing the global water sector. Speakers at the event stressed the importance of taking immediate action to ensure the conservation of water resources.
Happiness Survey: On the occasion of International Day of Happiness, Community Development Minister Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid launched the second edition of the National Quality of Life Survey, one of the initiatives of the National Wellbeing Observatory conducted by the National Happiness Ministry of Community Development and Wellbeing Program, in partnership with the Federal Competitiveness Authority.
The event took place as part of the launch of a series of events and initiatives organized by the ministry on the occasion of Expo 2020 Dubai, which celebrates International Day of Happiness on March 20, in the presence of Zaki Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the President of the UAE and Chancellor of the University of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and several officials and experts.
Mothers, Champions of Human Fraternity: Expo 2020 Dubai also hosts an international conference titled “Mothers, Champions of Human Fraternity”, organized on the occasion of Mother’s Day celebrations in the UAE and the Arab region on March 21.
The conference addressed several important themes, such as motherhood in a changing world, the role of mothers in a cohesive family and the achievements of Her Majesty Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Maternity and Childhood and Supreme President of the Foundation for Family Development.
International Organization of La Francophonie’s day of honor: The International Organization of La Francophonie celebrated its day of honor at Expo 2020 in Dubai, in the presence of Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of the Organization.
Visits: The number of visits recorded by Expo 2020 Dubai reached 20,819,155 in the 172 days from its opening on October 1, 2021 to March 21, 2022, while the number of virtual visits by digital platform has exceeded 197 million, thanks to a series of entertainment events available on the Live@Expo platform.
AC Milan: Expo 2020 Dubai is the scene of a day full of football activities with the visiting club AC Milan, current leader of the Italian Serie A.
Team manager Stefano Pioli and first-team players Brahim Diaz and Fikayo Tomori took part in a training session for the kids, as well as a live Q&A session which was attended by the road -hundreds of fans.
National Days: Expo 2020 Dubai hosted several national day celebrations for different countries, including Estonia, Czech Republic, Sudan, Congo, Greece, Namibia and the Holy See.
